History of Council

These are the footsteps of the Jeongeup City Council
HISTORY OF JEONGEUP CITY COUNCIL

In April and May of 1952, the first democratic local assembly system emerged with the formation of city/eup/myeon councils and provincial councils through popular elections, respectively.
However, the local council was dissolved on May 16, 1961, and was revived after 30 years due to the wishes of the people, and in 1991, elections for provincial council members were held, and 12 members from Jeongju-si
and 15 members from Jeongeup-gun were elected, providing an opportunity to lay the groundwork for new democratic development.
The terms of office of local council members and heads of local governments who were elected in the first National Simultaneous Local Election (June 27, 1995) expired on June 30, 1998.
